I honestly think that Beret might be one of the most beautiful people I have ever photographed. Granted, she's my little sister, so I'm totally biased, but STILL. She is magic in front of the camera. She is so graceful and that little bit of modeling she's done totally shines through. Love you, B, and happy graduation :)

I have this great, deep love for cinema. I like "movies for entertainment" just as much as the rest of America, I'm sure - don't get me wrong, I LOVE to watch stuff blow up. However, I also have a passionate adoration for movies that are beautiful and visually compelling, to the extent that, when a movie is colorful and stunning enough, I could care less about the plot. Ever seen "What Dreams May Come"? ;) Call me shallow, but I'm a total sucker for good visuals. This is probably why I couldn't sleep for about three days straight after seeing the new "Alice in Wonderland" in 3-D. It was AMAZING. I was so hyper and excited and overwhelmed with creative input that I probably could have cried. This isn't the first time I've been inspired by awesome videos, and I love it when something gets my mind whirling like that! So yeah, I saw "Alice", I fell in love, and I knew it had to be mine. I've been planning this shoot for what feels like forever. So, I raided my local thrift store and carted *everything you see below* from Denver to Baltimore to Gettysburg to the garden behind the next door coffee shop, without breaking a single thing.
I'm honestly not quite sure how to classify this shoot, because I love it SO MUCH. Bridal portraits? Fashion? Is Allie wearing a wedding dress? Yes. Could you incorporate these ideas into your own wedding celebration? Yeah, but only if you're amazingly cool. Which Allie is. She's absolutely perfect for Alice, and had this awesome quiet, composed, light-hearted energy that really made the shoot what it is. Allie, my dear, THANK YOU so much for putting up with all of my insanity and for generally just being perfect.
When I first got into town, I just kept babbling about how it was so green, until my sister started rolling her eyes at me. In BV, most of the trees still don't have leaves, and grass just started turning green like a week ago. I am way way jealous.
The layout of this amazing table is all courtesy of my sister. I keep telling her she needs to start doing this full-time.
Did I mention that we snuck this chair out of the second floor of the coffee shop, down the fire escape, into the garden, and back up into the coffee shop before they closed?
Just so you guys know, I have a few more ideas for movie-inspired shoots - especially a few ideas for engagement / love sessions! Contact me for details :)
My little sister graduated from college this weekend! I went out to Gettysburg a few days early to hang out and do some super-fun, stylized bridal shoots with her and two of her closest friends. We had been planning this for a while, but I still can't believe we pulled all three shoots off- between them cleaning, moving out, having tons of family in town, event after event, graduation itself, and packing for a month-long trip through Turkey (all in ONE WEEKEND, mind you), these girls had a ton going on. But... we did it, and I'm so excited to share these shoots with you! It was so fun for me to be so involved in every aspect - usually I give suggestions, but I don't get to style all the details. But, ooh boy, when I DO get to, it's a ton of fun!Not only is Gülce absolutely stunning, she is also brilliant and sweet and hilarious. She's so comfortable in front of the camera, even wandering around the Gettysburg campus in a wedding dress.
I've been trying to convince someone to do a trendy artichoke bouquet for a long time, so I finally decided to just put one together myself! And by that, I mean, my sister did it all. I gave her an idea and she absolutely ran with it. Doesn't it look incredible? Good job, B :)
A few weeks ago, I flew out to Gettysburg to visit my lovely sister Beret who is a senior at Gettysburg College. We had all sort of fun things planned and had even scouted out locations for some amazing shoots with her and her best friends / roommates, Allie and Gülce. I mean, we're talking dinner plans, and yoga class plans, and spending the whole weekend shooting some senior college pics.... they were even going to do some bridal glamour modeling for me! Little did we know that about 6 hours after I arrived, the East Coast would be slammed with "snowmageddon"... which honestly made me chuckle a little bit. I mean, yeah, there was some snow, but coming from 8,000 feet in Colorado, 2 feet of snow is nothing at all. I've had to go to school in much worse :)We managed to shoot for about an hour before it got brutally cold - all these shots are taken within a one block radius of Beret and Allie and Gülce's apartment. I'm stoked to be coming back out in May for their graduation. Thanks ladies. You are lovely and it was wonderful to stay with you! And a huge thanks to Hannah for her movies, Super Bowl company, and her appreciation of Flor de Caña :)
I love this building SO much!
The stunning Gülce...
The lovely Allie...
And my beautiful, wonderful, outrageous sister Beret!
Isn't my sister amazingly gorgeous?!?!
I covet this door.
Hey hey! I'll be back in Gettysburg graduation weekend for four or five days - so let me know if you want to do something fun while I'm out there! I can't wait to shoot out there more :)
